About me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Steampunk
Sally” from

Barbara Jensen.

This is Barbara’s current free bonus tube and
you can get it

 when you
spend $9 or more on tubes at

The kit is “Steamed Up” from

Karmalised Scraps

and can also be purchased at

You will need the png mask 242 from

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow
of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent
canvas 750 by 750 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask, select
all, float and defloat, make a new layer, paste paper 6 into the selection,
deselect and delate the original black mask layer.  Duplicate the paper mask, resize one copy
60%, flip it and position down and to the left.   Resize the second copy 70%, mirror it and
position up and to the right.

Paste element 28,
resize 40%, duplicate, position and apply the shadow to each.

Paste element 25, resize
75%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 21,
resize 30%, position over on the right and apply the shadow.

Paste element 9,
resize 75%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 7,
resize 30%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 14,
resize 30%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 16,
resize 30%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 48,
resize 55%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 6,
resize 50%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 39,
resize 55% and move into place.  Select
the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5,
make a new layer below it and paste paper 2 into the selection, paste the full
size tube mirrored, resize 90%, position in the frame, invert the selection and
hit delete, deselect, apply the shadow to the frame and change the blend mode
on the tube to “Hard Light”.

Paste the tube again,
resize it 55%, apply the shadow with the box “Shadow on a new layer” checked,
change the blend mode on the tube to “Hard Light” and move into place.

Paste word art 1,
resize 30%, position below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 34,
resize 25%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 35,
resize 17%, duplicate, position and apply the shadow to each.

Paste element 50,
resize 25%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 52,
resize 8%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 51,
resize 20%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 49,
resize 15% and duplicate, position one copy above the tube, mirror the second
copy and position it below the word art, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 29,
resize 20%, on the top, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 55,
resize 15%, position and apply the shadow.
I recoloured the green centre brown as I didn’t have  any other green colour in the tag.

Paste element 38 on
the top, resize 25%, duplicate, mirror the copy, position and apply the shadow
top each.

Paste element 33,
resize 15%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 41,
resize 15%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 5,
resize 30%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 2,
resize 20%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 44,
resize 15%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 30,
resize 10%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 3,
resize 10%, position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 53,
resize 7% and roate70 degrees to the right, position and apply the shadow.

Check your layers and
make any adjustments, then crop your tag, add your copyright information and
text and export on a transparent background as a png.
