About me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the lovely tube “Festive Mood” from
You can purchase her at

The kit is “Wish n Wonder”
This is a fabulous kit and can be purchased at
Deedles n Doodles store.

You will need “chmask 6” from

For the animation you will need Animation Shop and my

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 650 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask and resize it 40%, select all, float and defloat the mask, make a new layer, paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the original black mask layer.

Paste spray 14, resize 70%, duplicate, merge the copy down onto the original and move into place.

Paste spray 15b, resize 80% and duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 70, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 106, resize 40% and move into place.  Click anywhere on your canvas outside of the window to make a selection, invert the selection and contract it by 10, make a new layer below the frame, paste paper 9 into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element 123, resize 38%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 59, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the tube, resize 28%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 103, resize 40% and duplicate, mirror one copy and position it below the window layers,  rotate the original copy 30 degrees to the left and position above the window, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 65, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 95, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 81, resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 113, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 80, resize 13%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 100b, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 62, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 61, resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 120 on the top, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 72, resize 15%, position behind the train and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 29b, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 18, resize 20%, duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 74b on the top, resize 13% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9, resize 13%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 66, resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 122, resize 13%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste spray 9, resize 80% and move into place.

Check your layers and make any adjustments, then crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

Start at top, close off all your layers down to and including the window and then merge visible, close off the merged layer, open the top closed ones and again merge visible.  Copy the bottom merged layer and paste it in Animation Shop “as a new animation”.  Open the snow animation and you will see it has 10 frames so you need to duplicate your merged layer until that also has 10 frames.  Select all the snow frames and copy them, then select all the merged layer frames, right click on the first one, go to “Paste into selected frame” and paste them over the copy of the paper that was below the frame.  Back in Paintshop, copy your top merged layer, again paste it in Animation Shop as before, duplicate it until you have 10 copies, select them all and copy them and paste them on your animation.  When you are done, run your tag through the Optimisation Wizard and save as a gif.
